Writing, studying and planning...

Focusing on many things, yet having no time to breathe and enjoy life the way I wanted.

Hi my dear reader, I am really glad to have you here. I'm writing in English because I have grown more international audience as well. Although the majority is Finnish speaking I find it rather helpful to write in another language and make it possible for the other people to be able to enjoy my content even if they don't know any Finnish. Anyways, to the topic of this post!

I noticed that it has almost been a year since I last posted something to my blog, which is shocking. At least to me. Thus, I wanted to post my current situation and little bit of what I have been doing during the past year and what is ahead of me. Currently it is summer, which means that I have more time to make blog texts and write my next book, which is something I will also cover in this post. So stay tuned!

Who is Catnip Karvonen? What do we know about her?

Apart from my plots and writing, I am still an individual person with a private life and dreams. Lately people have been getting more interested in my personality as well as my writings, thus I will be discussing myself a little bit as well!

The past year has been busy, but how?

By past year I mean the last time I have published a blog post, so since last summer.

My energy has went to school, since I have now completed my second year in high school on the IB line (so first year of IB is behind me now). And apart from that I have been writing my next book, which cover illustration I have added next to this text.

During autumn 2022, I spend a lovely week in Germany (Limburg) and got to know an amazing family who are in love with Harry Potter and bunch of other things that are my interests too. I had a blast in there and was able to create many good memories while filling my brain with inspiration. Although I got to say that during the winter months in Finland, I had a long break from writing and struggled to create text or ideas to my story. However, with the help of my lovely friend and hard work I managed to continue the plot and now have many chapters more than I thought.

On the side of Instagram people can follow my weekly life more closely, even if I had to take a month long break form it all in May (2023). Then again, if I concentrate on Instagram and my story/book/plot, it is difficult to focus on blog writing and planning the coming weeks. The break did really good on my mental health and motivation, since now I'm exited to post more and share my thoughts with people who are interested about my work. Thank you, if you are still reading this :)

I have also been reading and analysing several stories (plays and novels, as well as short stories), which have helped my own writing. On the IB line, we get to pick six subjects and whether they are hl or sl (High level and standard level, have to be half and half though...) and I have chosen short math sl, biology sl, visual art sl. History is one of my hl subjects. But then comes the funny part. I am the only student, of our cohort, in our school, who has chosen Finnish and English hl. Which means that I study language and literature in two languages, where on the English I luckily have other people with me, but during the Finnish hl periods, I sit alone with our lovely teacher. It technically is like private teaching and I am so happy to be the only one since I get more detailed knowledge on how to analyse different texts and draw conclusions. Others might see it as a nightmare, but I see it as a dream, since Finnish is the language I use to write my books anyway.

What's the situation now and what's ahead?

Currently my first draft of "Dark side of the Moon" is at its end, still lacking couple chapters that will take a bit more time. I am also planning other blog posts as well as Instagram content to be able to connect with you better in several different ways. I also have many essays to write that require a lot of research, which I plan to do during the summer as well as reading to my psychology finals that take place during autumn. So a lot of reading... Since I also wanted to read three greatly known books. Two of them are from Dostoevsky and one is from Gogol. Even if the current situation between Ukraine and Russia is not great, I don't want to let it influence too much my reading plans. And it is not a political choice from me, but rather a choice based on old classics. My last blog post was about Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" and since I really enjoyed it I decided that I wanted to read other works from him as well. So it has nothing to do with the current situation in Europe.

So apart from writing, I also will be reading a lot soon. Since the research, classics and finals, I will also continue analysing literature in school during the last semester that starts in autumn.

But hey, my life isn't just books even if it sometimes sounds like it! I also work at a cat café and create art (by painting). During the first weeks of June 2023 I was also in a modeling school and plan on continuing on that field as well. The people who know me personally know that I have many passions. These (writing, reading and modeling) are strands of it. Even if I plan on mainly studying psychology, I still want to enjoy my life by doing multiple other things. Because "diversity is natural" like was said in Helsinki during the pride month (June) near the train station.

If you stayed until here, I personally want to thank you!

I recommend on following me on Instagram: @catnip_karvonen

And of course buying my book from the link below, since it is only 22,90 euros!

(Because buying it from BoD helps me the most as an author, since I get the greatest author's fee from my own work that way and you get the cheapest price)
